| Four years before the City of White celebrated their Centennial in
1984 Mayor Arthur Graslie approached Fayriene Schafer on putting
together a White History Book. She asked Wanda Tyler to help her and they
put together a 447 page history book. This book contained the histories
of the local residents that lived in the four surrounding townships, Afton,
Sherman, Oak Lake and Argo and the city of White.
The White Area Historical Society organized in 1983. White was
celebrating their Centennial and the Society was very instrumental in obtaining
a large display of items
that were donated by residents of the area. They decided that White
needed a museum, where these items could always be on display.
From the sale of the White History Book, the White Historical
Society purchased the Methodist Church, which they turned into a Museum.
On the lot where the Museum stands,
-
Afton Township #15 Schoolhouse is also located
The schoolhouse came with over 800 books, school desks. And now is full
of items from the schoolhouse in White, townships schools , plus many pictures
and other articles from the Deubrook School.

A Log Cabin which was located in Gilley's Grove (located north east
of White) was donated to the Society and in 2006 will be placed on the
lot with the other two buildings. There are items from the early years
located in the cabin.
